Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jacinto and Julia Medeiros, she had resided in New Bedford since 1957.
Mrs. Martins worked as a stitcher for the former Mickey Madamm Handbags for 25 years, retiring in 1971.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and caring for her plants.
Survivors include two daughters, Aldina M. Sarmento and her husband Joseph of Dartmouth and Lucy C. Lima and her husband Joseph of New Bedford; a son, John A. Martins and his wife Ana of New Bedford; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria C. Patricio and Anibal Medeiros. The family of Mrs. Martins would like to thank the staff at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth for their wonderful care and compassion.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 8am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 9am in Our Lady of Mt.
