Alice Jane Grandy

Grandy, Alice Jane - 91 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Monday, January 19, 2015 in Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by family members. Alice was born on November 24, 1923 in Ramea, N.L. and was the eldest daughter of the late Emmanuel and Rita (Walters) Kendall. Alice was always very active in her church. She was a long time choir member, member of the A.C.W., served on the Alter Guild and belonged to the church quilting group. She was also a long time member of the Dartmouth Seniors Centre, Dartmouth Seniors Choir, the Crafty Ladies and had spent many years volunteering with the Heart and Stroke Club at Findlay School. Alice was a former member of the Newfoundland Club where she and dad enjoyed many dances and card games. She is survived by her daughter Linda, Dartmouth, son Donald (Gloria) Dartmouth, grand-daughter Angela (Chris) and great grand-daughter Daphne, Victoria, B.C., brothers Norman (Marcella), Ramea, N.L., James (Jim) (Elizabeth), Saint John, N.B. and Cecil (Evelyn) Dartmouth, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband William H. (Bill), sister Louise, brother Edward (Eddy) and sister Maude. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23 from 7-9 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24th at Church of the Holy Spirit, Gaston Rd. and Regency Drive at 11 am, the Reverend Edwin Ebsary officiating. Family flowers only.
