
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Ann Zita was the daughter of the late Dr. Harvey and Mary (Young) Sutherland.
Ann Zita was a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University. After graduation, Ann worked in the Banking industry followed by many years with Metro Community Housing.
She was a very talented pianist and passed her love of piano to two of her nieces. She loved to travel and did so widely over the years across Canada and abroad. Her hobbies included knitting and often making small blankets for newborns at the neonatal unit of the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax. She had a very inquisitive nature and was a lifelong learner.
Ann Zita had several health challenges in her later years including several cancers. She received excellent medical care and with her determined nature overcame them and "moved on" as she often stated. Her faith in God was very strong.
Besides her parents, Ann Zita was predeceased by sisters Ronalda, Pearl and Louise (in infancy) and brothers Harvey and Jack.
She is survived by her sister Margaret of Halifax, and brothers Fabian of Dartmouth and Stuart of Sydney. Many thanks to niece Valerie Dockerty and neighbour Linda Burns for their assistance at this sad time Cremation has taken place
A gathering of family and friends will take place at A.L Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth on Friday, September. 8, 2023 from 2 -4 pm.
