Arthur "Art" Robertson Smith

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, that we announce the passing of beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Arthur Smith. Arthur was born in Goldboro, Guys. County to the late George and Amy Smith. He enjoyed a long, healthy and happy life but the time had come for him to rejoin mom for eternity.

Throughout his life dad was avid “Jack of all trades”, always willing to help people out. He was a skilled carpenter and his major projects included our first family home in New Minas, the cottage in Pugwash and the large workshop at Donegal Drive. Mom and Dad moved to the Dartmouth in 1970 as he had taken a job at the Chronicle Herald as a compositor. He continued to work there until his retirement. They enjoyed many of their retirement years at the cottage in Pugwash, which was a short distance from the golf course where dad often went to play.

Art was predeceased by parents George and Amy Smith, Wife of 67 years Eileen, Daughter Darlene (Infancy), Brothers Walter, Austin, Fred and Clyde.

He is survived by Brother Allan “Bud” (Jackie), Sons Alan (Cathy) Steve (Donna) Kevin (Jackie), Niece Kim, Nephews Walter, Carl, Dwayne, Granddaughters Jennifer Smith (Laurie), Amy Smith (Nick), Samantha Markie (William), Savannah Luscher (Brennan) and Shelby Smith (Justin). As well as Great Granddaughters Ava, Brier & Scarlett.

As per his wishes there will be no service or visitation after cremation.
