
VARDY, Clyde - 72, of Dartmouth, N.S. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Clyde Vardy on October 6, 2011, in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Harbour Mille, N.L., he was the son of the late George and Josephine (Pardy) Vardy. He spent his youth fishing on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. As a young man, he moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where he met and married Doris Eddy. He attended cooking school, and then returned
to sea as a cook. Years later, he became the head chef at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement with his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. Clyde is survived by his children, David Vardy and Colleen Walsh; grandchildren Kyle and Allyssa Walsh; sisters Olive (John) Poole and Rebecca Bryan, North Sydney; brother Wallace, Grand Falls, N.L.; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Doris, sisters Laura, Ida, Frances, Blanche, and an infant sister; brothers Berkley, Herbert, and William. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday Oct 13 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church, 50 Wentworth Street,
Dartmouth, N.S. with Rev. Stephen Laskey officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ Church, Station M. PO Box 473, Dartmouth, N.S. B2Y 3Y8.
