

INKPEN, David Sherman - 88 of Dartmouth, passed away on June 4, 2017 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Dave was born in Saint John, N. B., September 22, 1928 to Mabel and Thomas Inkpen. He grew up in north end Halifax, sharing many misadventures with his four older brothers. In his 20s, Dartmouth became his home. He was very dedicated to his wife Jean, children, and extended family. Dave worked at MT&T for 38 years, retiring as Vice President of Finance. He was a committed volunteer in church and community organizations -Boy Scouts (cubs), Red Cross, Minor Hockey, Food Bank, CNIB. He loved being outdoors, skating on the lakes, swimming, walking, fishing. He was an avid reader, especially of world history. From the age of 5 until the day before his death, he spent summers at Boutilier’s Point, St. Margaret’s Bay. Dave is survived by his children, Mary (Martin) Walker, Andrew (Pat Seary), Janice Inkpen (Scott Logan), Catherine (Bob) Mertens and Tom (Suzanne Roberts); 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (nee Baker) and brothers Fred, Art, Doug, and Stan. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Sunday, June 11th at 2pm in Grace United Church, Rev. Stephen Fram officiating. A reception will follow in the upper hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Church, North Dartmouth Outreach Resource Centre, or a charity of choice.
