
COOKE – Donald Malcolm Arthur, 74, of Porter’s Lake passed away on Friday, November 4th, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Son of the late Murray and Susan (Verge) Cooke, Don retired in 1993 after 29 years service with Maritime Tel & Tel. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (MacDonald), daughters Janice and son-in-law Troy Nieforth, Seaforth, and Valerie and son-in-law Jeff Perrin, Langbroich, Germany. Grandchildren Jeremy, Tyler, Melissa, and Amy Nieforth; Rebecca, Nathaniel, Benjamin and Matthew Perrin; brother Murray, Santa Monica, California. Don was predeceased by his brother James. He was a long time member of St. Marks’ Anglican Church, a member and Past Master of Cornwallis Masonic Lodge No. 95, Past High Priest of St. Andrews/Renown Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Past Grand Captain of the Host of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia, Grand Representative of the State of California in Nova Scotia, Past Patron of Scotia Chapter No. 49 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Grand Representative of Nova Scotia in the State of Colorado, a member of Philae Shriners and the Dartmouth Shrine Club. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 9th, from 7 to 9 pm at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Portland Street, with an Eastern Star Service at 7, followed by a Masonic service – all are welcome to attend these services. Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 10th at 2 pm at St. Marks’ Anglican Church, 74 Myra Road, Porters Lake, the Rev. Kyle Wagner officiating. Burial at a later date.
