

FANCY, Donald Bryce – 75, of Dartmouth, NS passed away December 17, 2014 at home. Born in Truro, NS., he was the eldest son of the late Bryce and Olivia (Jewers) Fancy. Don graduated from Colchester County Academy, Truro, NS in 1957 and was employed in the paint industry for 40 years, retiring in 1998 as Atlantic Sales Manager for Sico Paints. Surviving are his wife Cathy, daughters Heather (Dan Rosengren), Quesnel, BC; Jennifer (Jorge Mena), New Westminister, BC; their mother Carol Fancy, Bowen Island, BC; grandsons Javier and Joaquin Mena, New Westminister, BC; sister Sandra Brand (Manuel Martins), Nanoose Bay, BC; brother Greg (Mary) Fancy, Pictou, NS. He was a past president of the CFB Halifax Curling Club and a long-time volunteer at Seaside FM Radio in Eastern Passage, NS. He was very active in sports, coaching junior high girl’s championship basketball teams in Middleton and Halifax. He was a member of the undefeated 1957 Maritime Juvenile Baseball Champions and a member of the 1995 Nova Scotia Men’s Senior Curling Champions. His hobbies included hiking, writing poetry, genealogy, gardening and travel. No visitation. Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held 2pm December 20, 2014 in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street. Interment will be in Heritage Oak Columbarium. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Kingsburg Coastal Conservancy or a charity of choice.
