Born in Woodside, Nova Scotia, Joan, as she preferred to be called, was the daughter of the late Murdock and Katie (Eggers) O’Neill.
Joan lived a long and happy life. She loved being with her husband, Ted; as they did everything together. She also enjoyed the road trips she took with her sisters.
In her later years, she especially cherished time spent with her family and took great joy in her wonderful grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her son, Paul (Melissa), and granddaughter Ava of Dartmouth; and by her grandchildren Sam of Ottawa and Grace of Dartmouth, children of her predeceased son, Peter (Sue). She is also survived by her sister, Julie (Jay Luck) of Boston, Massachusetts.
Joan was predeceased by her brother, Robert O’Neill; and her sisters, Barbra O’Neill (John O’Neill), Sharon O’Neill (Reeves), and Grethen O’Neill (Juliusson).
A small celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
