October 5, 1930 – May 4, 2017
It is with deep sorrow that I must announce the death of my dear Mother, Edie Foster who passed away peacefully at home at 7:34pm. Born in Sherbrook, she was the daughter of Leita and Sid Cluney and the stepdaughter of Glen Aulenback. My mother’s faith gave her great strength which sustained her throughout her life. She is now with her Lord God. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas William; son, Tommy, Halifax; daughters, Linda Ball, Lower Sackville and Eileen MacLeod, Dartmouth. She is survived by her brother, Ken Cluney and his wife Linda, Bedford; daughters, Barb Walsh, Dartmouth, and myself-Donna Ellen Wournell, Dartmouth; son Dwight Foster, Calgary; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. My mother loved life and had a great sense of humour. She was a proud resident of Dartmouth – Our City of Lakes! She was always knitting something, crocheting something or working on her quilts. She made hand stitched quilts for all six of her children; it took her years and years to complete them all. She is to be cremated and her ashes are to be sprinkled in the Atlantic Ocean where she will travel all around the world. Donations can be made in her memory to the Canadian Red Cross. She loved to volunteer. She believed that volunteers plant the seeds of kindness in this world! Her service included The March of Dimes, Harbour View Home & School Assoc., Holy Trinity Church, Dartmouth Senior Service Centre on the switchboard and catering, the breakfast program at Harbour View School, the Dartmouth Boys and Girls Club, the V.O.N, City of Lakes Quilters, Dartmouth Stroke Support Club and the yearly Poppy Campaign in honour and service to our Veterans. I wish to thank Jill Dollymond and all the folks of Northwood Home Care, the visiting V.O.N. and especially Darlene-“thank you for everything” and thanks is also due to Dr. Robert Horton and everyone at Palliative Care, especially my mother’s guardian angel Marlese-Thank you, and last, but not least, I want to thank all the people at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home who treated my mother at all times with respect and dignity.
To my mother – “From, you don’t have to worry about me, I’ve got Joanna and Kevin and I’ve got my girls.”
I have lost my best friend, my heart is broken, your loving daughter, Donna.
