It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eileen Humphrey on October 20, 2020. Eileen was born with the sound of Bow Bells in London, England on December 23, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Violet Gabriel. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2000. Eileen is survived by her sons, Robert (Margo) and Ray (Keri), eight grandchildren, Michael (Melissa), Jeffrey (Jennifer), Richard (Melissa), Nicholas (Macey), Stephen (Jennifer), Sabrina (Matthew), Alyson (Brent) and Rachel; 13 great-grandchildren, Owen, Catelyn, Kyle, Hayden, Noah, Benjamin, Sophia, Mason, Zachary, Ayden, Hailey, Hannah and Alexander. Surviving also are her sisters in England, Sheila (Bernard) and Sue (Dave); nephews and nieces, Mark, Stephen, Lyn, Clive, Graham, Sharon, Claire and Barry. Eileen was a faithful church worker and was awarded a Faithful Service Award by the Diocese of Nova Scotia in 2011. She sat on the Board of the Birches Nursing Home, and was a member of the Shore Grandmothers to Africa and a past member of the British Isles Club. Eileen worked for the Dartmouth School Board and with the Sisters of Charity at the Motherhouse. After the death of her husband Roy she opened her home for meetings of various groups. Donations would be greatly appreciated for St. John’s Anglican Church, Oyster Pond or Grandmothers for Africa. Family flowers only. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, funeral will be held for family members only in St. John’s Anglican Church, Oyster Pond.
