INGLIS, Ellie Loretta- Age 85, of Eastern Passage. With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother, on June 9 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hearts Delight on Aug. 21, 1936, to the late James and Lillian (Harnum) Legge. Aside from her parents, Ellie was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert ‘Squeak’ Inglis, and her brother Wayne Legge. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sharon (Philip) MacCormack and Wendy (Jim) Douglass; four grandchildren, Dionne (Robert) MacDonald, Philip (Nikki) MacCormack, Ryan (Trisha) Douglass, and Tiffany Douglass; six great-grandchildren, Penelope, Mikaela, Ivy, Hannah, Haylee, and Brayden; sisters, Elaine, Sharon, and Evelyn; brothers, David, and Jake; many nieces and nephews; and special fur grandbabies Fergus and Jagger. Ellie moved to Halifax when she was five years old and then to Eastern Passage where she became a devoted member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church and donated much of her time and sang in the choir. Ellie met Squeak at the young age of 12 and they spent many years together bowling, skating, and dancing, and were eventually married on July 30, 1955. She loved to bake and sing, take long Saturday drives, shopping trips to ‘The States’, and cook large family dinners. There was nothing more special to Ellie than spending time together with her family and watching her beloved Blue Jays with Squeak. Mom will be missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and by request, there will be no visitation and a private family funeral held. If so, desired memorial donations may be made to Eastern Passage- Cow Bay Community Food Bank. We would like to take the time to thank Rev. Cate Ratcliffe along with the wonderful nurses of 3W at the Dartmouth General Hospital and the recent care she was given by Dr. Evans and the staff on the 3rd & 4th floor at Ocean View Continuing Care. You were all so kind and professional during this difficult time taking care of our mother. Online condolences may be sent to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
