Ethel Areila Sarafinchan

Sarafinchan, Ethel Arelia (Conrod)-85, of Eastern Passage, passed away August 7, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. Born in Eastern Passage, she was a daughter of the late Lester (Jack) and Viola (Hanson) Conrod.

She is survived by her husband Mike; daughter, Wendy (Doug), Cow Bay; sons, Jeffrey (Brenda), Edmonton and Harold, Eastern Passage; step-daughter, Diane, Toronto; sister, Shannon, Eastern Passage; granddaughters, Kelly (Allan), Debbie (Keith) and Michelle; grandsons, Bill (Allison), Joe, Paul, Greg; step-grandsons, Chris and Wade; as well as several great grandchildren and two nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Gerald (Joe) Conrod, daughter, Sandra Cross-Conrod and great granddaughter, Kerri-Lea Dixon.

Ethel worked for several years at the Auto Port in Eastern Passage and missed all her friends when she left there. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed digging in the dirt right up until the time she could no longer do so. Christmas time was her favourite time of the year. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved us all unconditionally. She loved music and enjoyed doing crafts, she often made baskets of flowers to take to Oceanview Manor for the residents to enjoy. Over the years she had many pets and she loved all of them especially her dogs. She will be missed by her little pug Lilly. Mom was a dear kind soul who will be sadly missed by all of us, but she will never be forgotten. She was a mom to every child and pet who ever entered her home and life.

Visitation will be held on Sunday August 11 from 6-8pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS. Funeral service will take place on Monday August 12 at 1pm in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eastern Passage.
