WOLFE, F. Margaret - Age 89, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017 at White Hills LTC, Hammonds Plains. Born June 5, 1927 in Melvern Square, NS to Otis and Vivian (Longmire) Chute. After completing a secretarial course in Bridgewater, Margaret moved to Shelburne to begin her career and there she met and fell in love with her husband-to-be, Arthur Lorraine (Raine) Wolfe. They were married in 1947 and moved to Halifax and eventually settled in Dartmouth where they started their family. When her boys were a little older, Margaret enjoyed a few years of employment with H.N. Wrathall. A long-time parishioner of Grace United Church, Margaret was a valued member of the UCW always willing to make crafts and sweets for the annual tea and sale and to contribute donations of homemade soup to feed the hungry of Dartmouth. With an eye for beauty and a love of nature, Margaret delighted in tending her colourful flower garden and harvesting the crop in her vegetable garden. Margaret enjoyed many forms of handwork – quilting, embroidery, smocking, plastic canvas, and was rarely seen without her knitting bag close at hand. She donated hundreds of hand-knit teddy bears to Doctors Without Borders and the IWK. In later years, Margaret attended art lessons provided by the Dartmouth Senior Center and found great joy in creating paintings of her favourite landscapes and wildlife. Margaret loved a good game of cards, especially crib or 45’s, and she was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed many happy hours playing in several bridge clubs. Visitors were always warmly welcomed to the Wolfe household and served home baked treats – unbeatable sugar cookies, butterscotch or apple pie, date squares and a hot cup of tea. Above all, Margaret loved her family. The grandchildren were always greeted with a smile, a hug, and were lovingly called “Darlin’”. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. B. Clarke and the dedicated staff of White Hills LTC for their outstanding care. Margaret is lovingly remembered by sons David (Elizabeth) Lower Sackville; Bruce (Sandra), Winnipeg; grandchildren Jennifer (Chad), Jason (Erin) and Ryan; Stephanie, Andrew (Jaime), Colleen and their mother Shelagh; Kendra (Bill),Kelsie (Derek); great-grandchildren Will, Bree, Tyler, Ethan, Dillon, Jaxon, and Sophie, sister in-law Marjorie Chute, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Raine, and brother Donald. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a memorial service at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, both in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Rev. Stephen Fram officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS or a charity of your choice.
