

Horne, Floyd Keith, Q.C., Passed away peacefully at the QE II Hfx Infirmary on March 5, 2012. Born in Dartmouth on Nov 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Ivan and Pearl (Conrad) Horne. Floyd was a Past Master and 50 year member of Wentworth Lodge No 108, Past President of the Dartmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce, Past Vice-President of the Dartmouth Chamber of Commerce, Past Commodore of the Dartmouth Yacht Club, Past President and one of the founders of the Dartmouth Barristers Association, and an active member of St Andrew's Church in Dartmouth serving as Warden and Council Member. Floyd graduated Dalhousie Law School and he was awarded a certificate of distinction by Dalhousie Law School and was a winner of the Canada Permanent Trust Company Prize in his senior year for achieving the highest standing the field of the Law of Trusts. He began practicing in 1955 and continued to do so for over 50 years. Floyd is survived by Barbara Jane (Ormon) Horne, his wife of 53 years; two sons, Ian (Bernice) of Cambridge ON, and Darren (Audra) of Ottawa ON; and daughter Brenda (Lester) Romans of Lawrencetown, Halifax County. He has six grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Owen, Liam Horne, Kyle and Taylor Horne, and Alyssa Romans. He is predeceased by his daughter Barbara Alison Owen. Masonic service will be held at 7pm Wednesday March 14,2012 in St. Andrews Church on Locks Rd. Dartmouth. Funeral Service will be held 11 am Friday March 16, 2012 in St Andrew's Church on Locks Road in Dartmouth by Rev Bert Chestnut. Reception will follow in the church hall.
