With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Graham Joseph Chisholm of Halifax, formerly of North Grant, on May 7, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born to the late Carol Anne and Harold Chisholm, Graham was raised on the family farm in North Grant. This is where his love for the outdoors, animals, and hands-on work took root. Throughout his life, he always found joy in the simple things: time with family, his daily crosswords, working with his hands, woodworking, or tending his garden. After attending Dalhousie Agricultural College, Graham enjoyed many careers throughout his life including farming, running his moving company, and working as a longshoreman.
Graham was a one-of-a-kind soul. Stubborn in the best way, deeply caring, and never one to follow the beaten path. He was a dreamer who always saw the best in people. He approached life with determination, optimism, kindness and creativity. He was a wonderful father and friend who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was always ready to listen or lend a hand. He brightened every room with his sense of humour and his warm presence. Graham lived fully, loved deeply, and never missed a chance to help others. He will be remembered for his fierce individuality, generous heart, and the joy he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; his children, Corrina (Luke) and Pace (Jami), who were his pride and joy; his siblings, Eric (Rachel), Vaughn, Wanda, Sheldon (Christina); as well as his nieces and nephews who he cared for deeply. Graham is also fondly remembered by a large extended family, who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 23, from 6–9 p.m. at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home on Portland St in Dartmouth.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at the QEII Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care during Graham’s final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the palliative care ward or to the charity of your choice.
