

Bell, Helen Blanche – of Dartmouth passed away at the Dartmouth General Hospital on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the age of 81. She is survived by husband Robert J. Bell II of 50 years. Children Jennifer Bell-Harding (Stephen Harding), Lenora Bell (Douglas Curren), Robert Bell III (Lorena Thorburn), Heather Bell (Marc-André Lavoie), sister Marjorie Matheson and brother Donald Dalrymple (Beatrice Demont). Helen was a warm and loving grandmother to Andrew and Cameron Harding; Benjamin, Bradford and Breanna Curren; Isaac and Simon Bell; and Chloé Lavoie. Helen treasured her grand-children and her many nieces and nephews who enriched her life so much. Helen was pre-deceased by her parents Harold and Viola (Frink) Dalrymple, niece Randi Dalrymple, brother Frederick (Sandy) Dalrymple, brothers-in-law Lloyd Matheson and William Bell, and grandson Angel Harding. Helen was a gentle soul, born in Parrel, Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to Nine Mile River, Nova Scotia with her family in 1937. A long-time resident of Dartmouth, Helen worked at CFDR radio before leaving to dedicate her life to raising her beloved family. When you entered Helen’s kitchen you were welcomed by her warm smile, home cooked meals magically appeared and openhearted conversation ensued. Her generous spirit put everyone at ease. Her simple acts of kindness made everyone feel loved and accepted. Visitation will be on Thursday April 23, 6-8pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth and the service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Friday April 24, 2pm at St. James United Church, 181 Portland St, Dartmouth.
