Ivan enjoyed a 30 year career with CBC radio and after his retirement he was very active with the CBC pensioners. He had a passion for genealogy and family history, for many years he wrote the “Beck Bulletin.” His most recent accomplishment was finishing his book, “The Life and Times of Vere and Elizabeth Beck.”
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheila (Dinney); son, David (Barb), Dartmouth; daughter, Gwen (Rodney Wendt), Ottawa and granddaughters, Stephanie and Patricia.
As per Ivan’s request there will be no formal visitation or service. His family will receive visitors on Saturday July 6 from 2-4pm during a Celebration of Life gathering in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
