Jack Murray

Murray, John Jerome (Jack) – 79, 91 Baker Drive, Dartmouth, NS –passed away peacefully April 5th, 2011 at the Dartmouth General Hospital with family present. Born in Dartmouth he was the son of the late John and Mary (MacDonald) Murray (Mabou, Inverness County). Jack was employed with HMC Dockyards for 37 years, retiring in 1994. He worked part –time for many years at Walkers Fruit and Vegetable Stand. Jack was well liked by all those who met him and he will be remembered for his quick wit and fun spirit. Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise (Currie), son Stephen (Dawnelda), daughter Tammy and granddaughters Amanda and Tara. Also surviving is his brother Allan “Chubby” of Dartmouth, NS and several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his brother Angus “Gus”. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place 2 -4 and 7 -9 Thursday April 7th , 2011 in AL Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS , B2Y 1J5. A memorial service will be held April 8th, 2011, 1100 am in St. Vincent DePaul, Roman Catholic Church, 320 Flying Cloud Drive, Dartmouth, NS, B2W 4T6. Special thank- you to Dr. Seth Bloom, Dr. Nancy Bloom, Dr. Lisa Gillis and Angela McFadden, Palliative Care Nurse. Also all the nursing staff on 3 East ( Pod 34) at the Dartmouth General Hospital for their kindness and special care. Special thanks to Joan and Frank Landry and Jeanette Aucoin for their support during Jack’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
