Janet Blanche Doleman

DOLEMAN, Janet Blanche - 63, of Dartmouth, passed away early on March 28, 2019 peacefully at home. Born on April 5, 1955 at Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point in Shelburne County, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Kathleen "Kaye" (Goodwin) Nickerson, formerly of Barrington Passage, NS. She was pre-deceased by both parents, and a sister, in infancy. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, George William Doleman, daughter Kate (Robert) Brinston, Porter's Lake, NS, Michael (Kirsti) Doleman, Princeton, BC, and grandchildren Penelope Janet Faith Doleman, and William Brinston. She will be missed by brothers Richard (Patricia), Qualicum Beach, BC; Rev. Dr. Robert (Betheny), Priceville, ON; Reid (Cyndi), Hope, BC, and only sister Julie (Daniel) DeMings, Gunning Cove, NS, as well as many nieces and nephews. Janet grew up in Barrington Passage, NS, attended Acadia University to complete her BAS in 1976. She has lived and worked in Woodstock NB, Corner Brook NF, Bathurst NB and Dartmouth NS, but her real joy came from being a stay at home mom, raising her two children and the 11 years at Maryann’s Gifts in Cole Harbour. Janet always thought of other people and found ways to brighten their day. She has been very active in her church families, most notably at Stevens Road Baptist Church for 25+ years in Dartmouth, NS. She was an avid sewer, reader, crafter and an accomplished writer, publishing short stories through the Evergreen Writers Group and an article in the Legion Magazine. Janet enjoyed travelling through the UK and Europe as well as many trips out west. Special thanks are extended to the Northwood Care Workers, the VON and Palliative Care who took great care of Janet. Special appreciation to various members of our church family for all the extra special care and all the generous gifts of meals, goodies, and time. All are welcome to attend visitation at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St. Dartmouth, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, Tuesday April 2, 2019. Celebration of Life Service will be held at Stevens Road Baptist Church, 2 Stevens Road, Dartmouth at 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2019, Rev.Christopher Drew officiating. Reception to follow.
