Smith, Jesse Alexander – age 24 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on January 1st, 2016 with his loved ones by his side. Jesse was a free spirited soul who went where the wind took him. He was easy to love and was always there to help a friend in need. Jesse could make you smile with his witty sense of humour and his unique sense of fashion. To say he “loved” hanging out with his friends does not nearly convey the depth of his dedication and commitment to the many friends who mourn his loss. If Jesse paid you a visit, you could count on him staying for a few days, at least. He had no problem blending in and soon became family to everyone he met. Jesse had a huge heart and was comfortable talking to anyone about anything. He could light up any conversation, even with strangers he had nothing in common with, and they would adore him within seconds. He was an old soul who was wiser than his years and knew right what to say when you needed to hear it. He loved all aspects of music from rap to jazz, and old country. He loved to sing, or should I say, rap his thoughts into music and record it to share … believe it or not, the boy could dance! Jesse loved to cook and enjoyed the experiences of fine dining with any kind of food. He could even jazz up Kraft dinner. The part of Jesse that stands out the most is his ability to make you smile and laugh, even if it was just with his half smirk and those big brown eyes … all you could do is smile back, no matter what you were feeling. Jesse’s love for his mom and dad was beyond unconditional, and when he spoke of them, there was pride in every word, a sentiment that is the same when they speak of Jesse. You will be missed Jesse...by those who loved you most and by those whose lives and hearts you touched with your gentle soul. May you rest in peace, sweet boy. Jesse leaves to mourn, his mother Jodi Smith (Ian Arbeau), of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and his father, Don Smith of Canoe Cove, PEI along with so many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by grandmother, Judith Colford, his true connected friend. As two peas in a pod, they somehow understood each other when no one else could, and are resting peacefully, together again. Visitation will be held from 2 -4 and 7 – 9pm, Wednesday, January 6th at Bethel Baptist Church, 316 Windmill Road, Dartmouth. A Celebration of Life to be held 11am Thursday, January 7th in Bethel Baptist Church with a reception to follow. Donations in Jesse’s memory can be made to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. Online condolences may be viewed or sent to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
