Judith Ida More

More (Estabrooks), Judith Ida - Judith “Judy” Ida More passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2024. Born on New Year’s Day in 1940 in Sackville, New Brunswick, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Jean (Wheeler) Estabrooks.

Growing up as an Air Force child, Judy lived in Greenwood, St. Hubert, and 2F Wing in France, where she developed her adventurous spirit and love for new experiences. She graduated from Normal College in 1960 and began her teaching career in Waverley, where she met her husband Alan. She left the classroom to raise her family in Dartmouth and was actively involved in the Bel Ayr and provincial home and school associations.

Later, Judy began a new career in real estate. She also spent many years working at Costco where she developed strong friendships with her fellow demo ladies as well as many regular customers. Judy also devoted her time to Stevens Road United Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, trustee, and deacon.

Judy treasured time with family and friends, especially at her cottage in Martins Point. She was an enthusiastic traveller, with fond memories from trips to Cuba, Arizona, Australia, Fiji and Costa Rica. She spent winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she enjoyed Cactus League spring training games.

Judy will be missed by her children: Stephanie, Melanie and her husband Stewart Duckworth, and Glen and his wife Sheila Pearson; her grandchildren Alexandra Rayworth, Katherine Duckworth, Alan Duckworth, and Piper More; and her dear sister, Colleen Estabrooks. She was predeceased by her husband, Alan, and her son, Robert.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, November 2, at 2 pm at Stevens Road United Baptist Church in Dartmouth, officiated by Rev. Erin Bruegger, with a reception to follow. Donations may be made in Judy’s memory to Margaret's House – Feeding Others of Dartmouth (F.O.O.D.) Society or to a charity of your choice.
