Kris Gordon Joseph McMillen

Passed away into the arms of his Savior August 21, 2017 surrounded in love and joy by his family and friends that came from near and far to be by his side. Kris was born on December 8, 1957 in Halifax, NS and spent his life in Dartmouth. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Bonnie McMillen (MacLean), their girls Leah Osawemwenze (Tony), Melissa Gosbee (Dave), and Lindsay Blackett (Brian), and his grandchildren Tyler, Sarah, Maya, and Jaxon who all lovingly called him Poppa. He cherished the time spent with each one of his grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters Leigh Broomhead, Glynis Mullen, and brother Anthony McMillen, his many nieces and nephews who all were touched by his compassion and unconditional love, his uncle David (Linda) Pattison, and a number of cousins whom he loved dearly. He was especially close with his cousin Ralph Pattison. He was predeceased by his big sister Kathleen Schooten in 1996 and his parents Gerald Joseph and Catherine Mary Alice (Pattison) McMillen. Kris with a K loved life and his journey and had many friends along the way whom he kept close just like family. Particularly Al MacCullough and Ross and Cathy Smith. Thank you to all of his friends for your love and support throughout the years. He loved everything Boston Bruins, building model aircrafts and cars, carpentry, and even took up guitar during his last couple months here with us, but he especially loved his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, whom he walked with each day to the very end. All who met Kris, met Jesus. A celebration of Kris’ life will be held Saturday, August 26th at 2pm at Dartmouth First Church of the Nazarene (3 Henry St). Pastor Ralph Yarn will be officiating the service. A time of fellowship will be held immediately following in the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society of Canada (Atlantic Division) or to the Movember Foundation (Canada) to support greater awareness of prostate cancer.
