James, M.Elaine – 62, With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who has been called home to be with our lord and savior and to be reunited with her best friend and one true love Kenrick James. Elaine previously worked at Maritime Telephone and Telegraph until leaving for her true calling which was to be a mother to Christopher and Anthony. Once her boys were in their teenage years Elaine returned to work at the Atlantic Superstore where she worked until retirement. Elaine’s infectious laugh drew everyone near but it was her kind soul and beautiful heart which led all to fall in love with her. Elaine gave of herself to all who needed help whether that was serving at the church as part of the Anglican Church Women, the Anglican Cursillo movement and Teens Encounter Christ. Elaine enjoyed spending time in the community volunteering as a telephone pioneer, reading to elementary school children and as a long standing volunteer at the Northwood Seniors Centre. Elaine was part of the Red Hatters organization, an avid bowler who also loved a good game of Hearts or Mexican Trains. Elaine loved her friends and family and no matter the mood you were in, just one of her loving hugs was sure to make you smile. Recently her greatest joy has been of becoming a grandmother to Tyler. Developing a special bond the moment he was born, no matter how Elaine was feeling one snuggle with her little man made everything better. She is survived by her sons Christopher (Heather), Lake Echo; Anthony Cole Harbour; brother David (Stephanie), Halifax; Teddy (Barbara), Mississauga; Sisters Karen, Texas; Kim (Eldon),East Preston; Shelley, (Dartmouth); sister in laws June James (Winnipeg) and Glenda Estelle of Trinidad as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Douglas and Jean Skinner, husband Kenrick, brother in laws Ronald, Selwyn and Harold. Special thanks to the medical staff of the 3rd floor of the Dartmouth General Hospital. Visitation will be held at the Anglican Church of Saint Andrew, 2 Circassion Dr, Cole Harbour on Sunday December 18 from 7-9 and Monday December 19th from 2-4 and 6-8. A service celebrating Elaine’s life will be held on Tuesday December 20th at 10am in the Church of Saint Andrew with Rev. Katherine Bourbonniere officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery immediately following the service with a reception to follow in the Church. Family flowers only. The family asks if you want to make a donation in Elaine’s memory please do to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Church of Saint Andrew building fund.
