Cochrane, M. Patricia (Paddy) nee Keeley - It is with deep sadness that we announce that Patricia (Paddy) Cochrane passed away peacefully on June 3rd at Drummond Hall in Halifax in her 94th year. Paddy was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, John (Jack) F. Cochrane, her sister Elizabeth Keeley and brother Raymond Logan. Paddy was born to Martin & Madelaine (nee O’Brien) Keeley in Stillorgan (now part of Dublin), Ireland, and was raised by her beloved grandmother, Sarah O’Brien. She toured Europe extensively in 1947 and 1948 before emigrating to Canada. She was delighted to say that she entered Canada on the same day as Newfoundland – March 31, 1949. Paddy was a proud mother to her three sons, Gil-Patrick (Michael LeBreton) of Ottawa, Kevin (Pam) of Dartmouth and Gary (Marilyn) of Calgary. She was also an adoring Granny to Matthew (Audrey) Cochrane of Trenton, Ont., Sean Cochrane of Calgary, Keeley (Adam) Weir of Toronto, Patrick Cochrane of Halifax, Jamie (Carissa) Cochrane of Calgary and Charlotte of Calgary. Paddy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, her remarkable intelligence, her stubborn Irish spirit and her unceasing love for her family. There is an Irish blessing which says, “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal”. Mom, Granny, Paddy – We will miss you, but our memories of your love for us will endure. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Drummond Hall for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated. Family and friends are invited to visit A. L. Mattatall’s Funeral Home , 217 Portland St., Dartmouth on Friday, June 13th from 7-9 PM. Where funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 14th. Reception to follow.
