Margaret "Peggy" Hayward

HAYWARD, (Hatcher), Margaret “Peggy” RN. age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday February 28, 2014. She was the daughter of Charles Hatcher and Alice (Lundrigan) Hatcher. She is survived by her sons, Greg (Bev), Dartmouth, Tim (Wanda), Mount Pearl, NL., and Gord (Debi), Dartmouth , sister Glenys Adam, as well as grandchildren Sandra, Paul, Angie, Melissa, three great grandchildren Gavin, Maggie, Avery and many nieces and nephews including special niece Debbie McLoughlin, Newmarket, On. She was predeceased by her husband Ken in 2010, sisters Ruthie and Muriel. Mom received her DIPLOMA, School of Nursing, Halifax Infirmary on the 31st day of December, 1945 where she worked for a number of years. She then worked for more than 30 years at the Dartmouth Medical Center. She was a long serving member of Christ Church, Dartmouth and a parishioner and volunteer of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Dartmouth. She was also a member of the Dartmouth Historical Society being sure that her three boys had a good understanding for the history of Dartmouth. Her family was her greatest joy and she was always ready to feed them and those they took home. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Special thanks from the family to the Palliative Care Team at the Hants Community Hospital; Northwood Homecare Workers; Victoria Order of Nurses and the staff of Parkland by the Lake, Baker Drive where she chose to live from December 2010 until her passing. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Thursday March 6th, 11:00am, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Regency Drive, Dartmouth under the direction of Rev. Edwin Ebsary. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
