
It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Monica Mary Singh, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, now resting peacefully in God’s loving care.
Born in Drogheda, Ireland, to Margaret (Curtis) and Johnny McArdle, she was the fifth child in a family of ten. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and John McArdle of Dundalk, Co. Louth, and by her siblings James McArdle, Elizabeth McArdle, and Ann McArdle.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dr. Jaspal Singh, and by her three cherished children: Dr. Tara (Ben) Singh-Smith, Karuna (Brent) Singh-Smith, and Oisín (Jillian) Singh. She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Malachi Smith, Melvina Smith, Declan Smith, and Aelish Singh, whom she adored.
She is also survived by her siblings: Margaret (Eric) Moore, Geraldine (Liam) Gorham, Dympna (Gerard) Mackin, Pamela (Paul) McArdle, and Paul (Sinéad) McArdle, along with her many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A woman of deep faith and boundless generosity, she lived her beliefs through a lifetime of service. She volunteered throughout her life with countless organizations and causes, including UNICEF, the hospital shop, and tirelessly in support of all her children’s classes, teams, and activities. She taught Sunday school at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for six years. She was always the first to help a friend, extend a kindness, or quietly step in where she was needed most, reflecting her strong faith through action and compassion.
She was an excellent squash player and skier. and a founding member of the women’s 7-aside soccer league, helping to build opportunities for women to play, compete, and connect through sport.
Her life was defined by faith, service, compassion, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, community, and family devotion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
