Perry Simmons

Simmons, Perry – 79, of North Preston, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2015 in the Dartmouth General Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in North Preston, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ada (James) Simmons. He worked for Simmons Paving for over 25 years. He loved playing the harmonica, playing guitar and singing, fishing, and playing pool. On Sunday, he loved to watch the Toronto Blue Jays, driving his lawn mower and cutting grass and planting flowers. He is survived by brother Samuel Dixon; daughters Claudia; Wanda, Dartmouth; Wendy, Ontario; Crystal, Montreal; Lindy (Cleveland), Dartmouth; Rosetta (Lindsay), North Preston; sons Gary, Dartmouth; Jeremiah (Anna), Toronto; Jonathan, Dartmouth; Perry Jr., Dartmouth; Gerome (Caunice). North Preston; Nicardo, Niagra Falls; Antron (Charlotte), North Preston; Trazine, Dartmouth; Tamara, Montreal; Galen (Lisa), Moncton; Daughters whom he loved, Marsha Drummond; Victoria Simmonds; sisters Madeline Beals; and long- time companion, Gwen Flood. Also surviving, 80 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter; Godchildren, Hank Simmonds; Emmanual Downey (Mann); Donna Whyder. Special Friends, Samuel Provo; Stanford Fraser; Tom Johnson; Charles Provo; Irving Cromwell; Billy Stewart; Marvin Dixon; and Roland Simmonds. He was predeceased by Wife Mae Simmons; Brother Irving Whynder; sister; Olda Henry; son Danny (Steve); and one great grandson Domico (Geo); 2 great grandsons; 1 great great granddaughter. Laymen Service will take place from 6-8pm Friday in Saint Thomas United Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 1pm in Saint Thomas United Baptist Church, 35 Simmonds Rd., North Preston. Pastor Wallace Smith and Pastor Edward Simmonds officiating.
