Peter Edward Radcliffe

Radcliffe, Peter Edward - 85 of Dartmouth, N.S. passed away peacefully, Friday, March 4, 2011 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Hayes, Middlesex, England, he was the son of the late William and Ada (Hargreaves) Radcliffe. He was apprenticed as an Aerospace Engineer at Fairey Aviation, Hayes (1941), joined Fairey Aviation Canada (Shearwater) in 1949, then helped found and worked at IMP Aerospace (Enfield) in 1970 until his retirement in 1990. He was an accomplished violinist, loved classical music and served as President of the Halifax Classic Guitar Society. He was a Champion Ballroom Dancer and Scrutineer, member of the Corté Dance Club, a Tennis Instructor, and a member of St. George's Tennis Club. He loved playing bridge with his close friends, doing crosswords and watching Jeopardy!

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife Phyllis (Gilbert), sister Barbara, and niece Jennifer. He is survived by daughter Gillian (John) Street, Redding, California, sons Mark (Shelagh) Dartmouth and Clayton (Nancy) Dartmouth, sister Dorothy (Hartnell-Beavis) London, UK, brother Geoffrey (Win), Lake Echo, grandchildren Dawn, Christopher, Jennifer, Susan, Holly and Devin, as well as niece Stephanie and nephew David. Visitation from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday March 10 at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St, Dartmouth.The Funeral Service will be held there on Friday March 11, at 11 am, Rev. Marlene Knowles officiating. There will be a Reception Lunch to follow. Cremation will take place prior to visitation. Private Internment. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Ora's Guest Home and the nurses and doctors at Dartmouth General ICU for their compassionate care and kindness given to our dear father.
