After graduating high school Peter spent a year in the RCAF and then went on to work with Robb Engineering for a short time. Working with his hands in the steel industry led him to the realization that it was far better to work with his head and he went on to join the Royal Bank of Canada. This decision blossomed into a career that spanned 37 years, with positions in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and New Brunswick.
From a young age Peter was an avid hunter, he looked forward to the many trips with his hunting buddies to the camp on “The Mountain” near Westchester. Over the last 35 years he and his friends enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, even if the trip was unsuccessful, it was all about the experience.
Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 27 years, Jeanette; son, Philip; granddaughters, Ava Ripley and Grace King; sisters, Jane Ritchie and Mary Ellen Scott; sister-in-law, Sheri Hogan (Danny); brother-in-law, Dennis Butler; as well as nieces and nephews, Tim, John, Alex, Katie, Maggie, Jennifer and Peter. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Mary Butler; brothers-in-law, Lee Ritchie, Lloyd Scott and Kevin Hogan.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Mental Health Association.
