Reg was born in Woodside, August, 1931. He was the son of the late William (Bill) and Ivy (Giles) Morash. His Mother's Mother, Jessie Giles' Farm houses originally located off of Astral Drive are now rescued and are located at the Cole Harbour heritage Museum property.
In 1956, Reg joined the Canadian Armed Forces, where he became a cook. He was posted to several locations across Canada, to Germany, to Alert in the Canadian Arctic and Egypt. Reg retired from the military in 1977.
In retirement he continued a life long association with the Royal Canadian Legion. In March of 2025 he became the oldest living Legion member in Canada. A feat he was very proud of.
He kept busy cooking and catering, but kept more busy bowling, curling, playing darts, cards, and golf. He liked to boast that he golfed both at the North Pole and the Sahara Desert! He was also excited to have scored a "hole in one". Of course he had a lifelong "fan"atic dedication to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Reg was predeceased by Geraldine MacDonald to whom he was married to for 50 years until her death in 2002. By 10 brothers, George, Lawrence, Chester, Leo, Kitchener, Ross, Gerald, Carl, Hector, and Robert.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy (Michael Kamer), brother Harold (Margaret) and many nieces and nephews.
Thanks to Julie, his companion, and special lifelong friends Ann and Lyle King. We would like to acknowledge the hard-working, compassionate Nova Scotia Paramedics and also very hard-working staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital. Thank you!
