Staples, Ruth Winnifred – 91 of Oyster Pond, passed away peacefully at Twin Oaks Hospital on January 31, 2014. Born in Halifax, Ruth was the daughter of the late Murray and Lily (Myers) Hanes. In her early years Ruth enjoyed playing baseball on the women’s league in Dartmouth, as well as catching ball for her husband. In her later years her enjoyment was in her gardens. She is survived by her loving daughters Christine (Ken) Mitchell and Marlene (Brian) Doherty; grandsons Colin (Zoe), Aaron Mitchell and great grandchildren Emma and Alex. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Neil and sister Elsie Bradley. Cremation has taken place, there will be a graveside service 11:00 am Thursday February 20, 2014 in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
