

Barrett, William “Bill” Frederick P.Eng-Of Dartmouth passed away March 22, 2013 at the Dartmouth General Hospital at the age of 68. Born in Corner Brook, NL he was a son of the late Clarus & Eva (Parsons) Barrett.
Bill graduated with his bachelor of engineering from the Nova Scotia Technical College in association with Memorial University of NL in 1968.
Bill was employed at MT&T for the majority of his career. Bill worked in Fundamental Planning as a long range planner until the 80’s. He then was promoted to Supervisor of Current Planning and was responsible for evaluating long range infrastructure requirements and initiating the process of engineering and provisioning of the technical builds. Much of his work was concentrated on the use of fiber optic technology for transmitting information. After retirement, Bill and his wife, Anne, spent their time as seasonal residents of Red Islands, CB where he was an active member within the community.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Anne (MacKenzie) Barrett; son, Peter Barrett, Dartmouth; daughter, Elizabeth (Dana) Nicholl, Moncton, NB; sisters, Lois (Jim) Finn, St. John’s, NL; nieces, Susan Finn, and Michelle Wolverton; nephews, Richard Finn and Michael Pinard.
A memorial service will be held 10 am Wednesday March 27, 2013 at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth. Father Lloyd O’Neil officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Johnstown, Cape Breton.
