Cleary, William George “Uncle Bill”-74 of Dartmouth. It is with sadden hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, much loved father and the “Bestest Papa” while in the Dartmouth General Hospital on June 9, 2014. He was set free from his long, hard fought battle with cancer to join his father and mother, Simon and Emma (Royer); brothers, Raymond and James; sisters, Clara, Rosemarie and Betty Lou. He leaves behind to grieve, his wife of 50 years, Carol; daughter Anne Marie and granddaughter, Sydney, all of Dartmouth; brothers, Thomas (Shirley), Charles (Dorothy), Dartmouth, Roy (Gertie), Elmsdale; sisters, Lillian (Stan Henneberry), Jeanette Eddy, both of Eastern Passage, Evangelene Smith, Ottawa, Lucille (Sam Morris), Fall River. Bill was accepted into the apprentice program in the HMC Dockyard working for 37 years in the Electronic/Gyro shop and retired as a Quality Control Officer. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed much of his free time hunting and fishing at Blue Mountain, Cape Breton, Newfoundland or from his wharf/ boathouse in Fisherman’s Cove, Eastern Passage.
We would like to express our appreciation to the doctors and nurses for the compassionate care they provided during Bill’s numerous stays at the Dartmouth General, as well as to the Palliative Care team and the Red Cross for all they have done both in the hospital and at home. We wish to include in our gratitude our close neighbour and good friend, Larry Corkum and his son Adam, for their tireless attentiveness to the many daily chores too difficult to manage without their help.
Funeral service will take place at 3pm Tuesday June 17, 2014 from St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Passage. Father Johni Mathew officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held at the Buffalo Club, 625 Cow Bay Road, Eastern Passage. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation be made to a charity of choice.
