

Adrienne Vera ("Ade") Hamilton, 94, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Ade was born on June 26, 1918 to Daniel and Mary Devine Hartley in Albia, Iowa. Ade married Burley "Joe" Hamilton in 1937. Ade and Joe raised two sons, Thomas Michael and Robert Wilson in a home they bought and lived in for more than 50 years at 3125 Marion Street in Davenport, IA. Ade was a devoted wife and mother and also worked as a cafeteria manager at Frank L. Smart Junior High School in the west end of Davenport until her retirement. Ade was a charter member of Cedar Memorial Christian Church in Davenport where she served her God faithfully for over 60 years. She was active in the church choir and sang solos on many Sundays over the years. Her family will always have fond memories of her singing “How Great Thou Art”, “Consider the Lilies”, “He Tenderly Looked at Me” and many others. In 2007, Ade moved into assisted living in Des Moines, IA. In life, Adrienne was blessed with daughter-in-law Gayle Hamilton of Clive, Iowa and six grandchildren: Sheila Lynn Hamilton and Thomas Todd Hamilton of Clive, Iowa; Torreya Lyn Hamilton of Chicago, IL; Angela Sue Hamilton of Los Angeles, CA; Amanda Sue Hamilton-Schmidt of Schaumburg, IL; and Jenna Leigh Quatrero of Chicago, IL. She is survived by her son Robert Wilson Hamilton of Wheeling, IL and sisters Mary June Gilette of Burlington, IA and Leah Ball of Silvis, IL. Ade was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Thomas M. Hamilton and the following siblings: Doris, Katherine, Marble, Madge, and Michael.
