Alice Maxine Odell

Alice Maxine Odell, 87, of Davenport, IA, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Ridgecrest Retirement Village. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held for her and her husband Clair at 11 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2025, at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at the time of service. On July 29, 1938, Alice was born to parents Robert and Ocie (Wilson) Fox in Oelwein, IA, the youngest of nine siblings. She married her husband of nearly 70 years, Clair Odell, on June 18, 1955. Occasionally, Alice worked outside of the home, but primarily she supported her husband in his ministry in the United Methodist Church and helped provide a loving home for their four children.

Alice delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas every year with the entire family. Over the years, she took numerous memorable vacations with her life-long friend Dorothy Thompson, with and without their husbands in tow. Alice enjoyed her coffee and a good glass of wine, but will most be remembered for the good times and laughter when visiting with family and friends.

Alice is survived by her children, Martin (Barb) Odell, Karen Crees, and Paul Odell; grandchildren, John (Jody) Petersen, Heather Petersen, Jeremy (Jenny) Crees, and Angela (John) Pacha; great-grandchildren, Clara, Caleb, Blaise, Cooper, Drew, Chase, and Cole, and special nephew, Ron Fox, along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clair, daughter, Jan Bell, and her siblings, Bob, Richard, Wayne, Edward, Lorraine, Shirley, Mary Lou, and Dorothy.
