Arthur Allen Wiebel

Arthur Wiebel, 85, formerly of LeClaire, IA passed away January 1, 2017 at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Mr. Wiebel was born, September 16, 1931 in Bunker Hill, IL a son of Gerhardt and Esther (Hintze) Wiebel. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In May 1960 he married Patsy Wilson in Davenport. She preceded him in death in April 2007. He was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal prior to his retirement. At the same time he was employed by Indianapolis Motor Speedway for more than twenty years. He was a member of NARFE and Labors for Christ, where he built churches. He also enjoyed camping and operating steam equipment at the Old Threshers Reunion in Mt Pleasant, IA. Survivors included two sisters, Eileen Hill and Ruth Runge. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Wiebel, his parents and several aunts and uncles.
