One of the worlds brightest lights has dimmed. Ashlee Renee Goetsch (Amerine), 39, passed away on May 28, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House after a courageous battle with metastatic cervical cancer. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A visitation to honor her will be on Saturday, June 6th from 11am until 3pm at Weerts Funeral Home, 3625 Jersey Ridge Rd, Davenport, IA 52807. As an avid Hawkeye fan, she requested everyone not wear “sad” clothes, but honor her favorite team, the Iowa Hawkeyes. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
Memorials can be made to the family for the girls future education. Memorials can be mailed to 5599 Cavan Crossing, Bettendorf, IA 52722.
Ashlee was born on March 8, 1987 to Sarah (Jim) Jackson and Kirk Amerine. Growing up she was next to impossible to keep inside. She loved playing softball, swimming, and running around with friends. Friends she had remained close with her entire life. She was a 2005 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School where she met and fell in love with Justin Goetsch. Ashlee and Justin went on to graduate from the University of Iowa just months before they were married in November 2011. They soon welcomed Isabelle Carole in 2013 and Nora Lee in 2017. Her “girlfriends” as she called them were her everything. They enjoyed reading together every night, taking vacations to Disney World, numerous zoos and waterparks, and going camping. She also loved to fish and spend any time of the year at her family's cabin in Minnesota.
Ashlee discovered at a young age that she had a special gift with the elderly. She would make friends with elderly neighbors and could be found playing checkers with others, while visiting her great grandparents at their nursing homes. All of this lead her to a career as a Recreational Therapist, specializing in the elderly. She was heavily involved with national and local organizations that support Alzheimer’s. The local chapter, Memories in the Making, honored her this May by renaming the Caregiver of the Year award. They now have the Ashlee Goetsch Excellence in Caregiving award, a wonderful honor, showing Ashlee’s dedication to her patients and the disease.
Ashlee is survived by her husband, Justin; her daughters Isabelle and Nora; her parents Sarah (Jim) Jackson and Kirk Amerine; her papa Jerry Rogan and grandma Kathi Amerine; her in-laws, Mike and Bobbie Goetsch (Albee); her brother-in-law, Nick Goetsch; her uncle, Jeff (Gigi) Rogan, aunt Kendra (Tom) McHugh, and uncle Kent (Jenny) Amerine. She had numerous cousins but had a special bond with Addie McHugh. She will also be remembered by numerous friends and co-workers across the US.
She was preceded in death by her grandma Carole Rogan and papa Keith Amerine. She was blessed to have known seven of her great grandparents.
A special thank you to her mother in law, Bobbie. She assisted not only with helping with the girls, but was there everyday for Ashlee on her journey. Also to her oncological team at the University of Iowa and the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for taking such great care of our girl.
Grandma Carole always said goodbye in a special way that Ashlee requested her notice end with…
