

Barbara Leigh Roy, 75, of Davenport, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, November 22, 2013 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. She was born in Macomb, Illinois on September 27, 1938. She grew up surrounded by a loving family and graduated from Davenport High School. After attending Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, she returned to Davenport where she met and married Charles Roy. The loving couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on September 10 of this year.Barb worked as an Avon Representative for over thirty years, earning the President’s award consistently over the course of her career. Most of her customers became friends, and she planned everything about making sure they were taken care of. She served the community by playing her keyboard at various events and senior centers around the area and talked about the residents and people she played for as though they were family. Barb worked out at Curves consistently over the last 15 years and made many dear friends while doing so. She loved to travel, whether to visit with family and friends in familiar places like Branson, Mo, or exotic locations like Belize and the Cayman Islands. She was able to vacation to many countries over the last few years of her life, cruising with a group of family and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Wayne (Merton) Yeast and is survived by her husband Charles (Chuck) Roy of Davenport, Iowa, her two brothers, Jerry (Marty) Yeast of Davenport, Iowa and Mike (Anita) Yeast of Bettendorf, Iowa and her sister, Debbi Foltz of Gahanna, OH. She will be dearly missed by her sons, Scott (Jennifer) Roy of Geneva, IL, David (Kim) Roy of Vancouver, B.C., her three granddaughters, Brittany (18), Rebecca (16), and Elizabeth (12) and her much loved nieces and nephews.
