Barbara J. Thompson, 90, of Davenport, IA, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, at Manor Care - Utica Ridge in Bettendorf, IA. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com

Barbara was born March 10, 1931, to Ernest and Bessie (Wymer) Jones in Davenport, IA. She worked at Davenshire for a few years before working most of her career in production at Edward’s Bakery in Davenport. On October 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to William Thompson in Davenport. Together they raised three children, Michael, Cheryl and Debbie. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed artwork, especially coloring and drawing, and the company of her dogs.

Barbara will be missed by her daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Weipert and Debbie Brooks; a grandson, Jason Gilliam; great grandchildren: Kyndra and Tru Gilliam; and her siblings: Gilbert Jones and Linda Letts. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Robert, Herbert, and Larry; a sister, Darlene; her son, Michael; and a son-in-law, Greg Brooks.

The family would like to extend special thanks for the care of William and Barbara to their friends and neighbors, Mona and Jim Dunn, and Barbara’s sister, Linda Letts, as well as an extra special thanks to Debbie Tripplet for her compassionate care over the years.
