Bernice U. Miller

A small ceremony will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Following will be a memorial/luncheon at Shirley's house in Davenport.

Bernice was born on July 22, 1922 to John and Dessie Merrell in Cotter, Arkansas. She married Virgil Miller in Gassville, Arkansas and had three sons, Jimmy, Gerald, and Darrell. Bernice was a homemaker and very social in her community.

In 1955 Bernice, Virgil and their sons moved to Bettendorf, Iowa where their families and hearts grew. Bernice, ‘Granny’ to us, had many hobbies. She loved quilting, music, and to dance. If we could say anything about her, it was that she was always the life of the party and her family meant everything to her. She might not have been your "typical" grandma but she will always be our granny.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Shirley Miller; and grandchildren: Julie Miller Strouse, Debbie (Jeff) Stapleton, Heather (Mike) Wheeler, Jimmy (Keia) Miller Jr., and Darrell Irla. God continued to bless Bernice with 17 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and three sons, Jimmy, Gerald and Darrell Miller.
