Betty was born August 5, 1928 to Theodore and Elizabeth (Sampica) Schlimmer in Davenport, Iowa. She married the love of her life, Wendell Cox, on January 6, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa and they went onto share 48 years together.

She lived in Davenport until 2012 when she moved to Florida with her daughter Sandi and son-in-law, Carl. She loved playing bridge, crochet, playing her organ, doing the Lords work, singing in church, and most of all her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Pam Ganson and Sandi (Carl) Davis; grandchildren, Dawn (Shawn) Meier, Kim (Mike) Groenwoldt, Lori (Dennis) Grubb, Curt Jewett, C.J. (Shawna) Davis, and Troy Jewett; seven great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ellen Schlimmer; husband, Wendell Cox; sisters, Delores Stanger and Nola Petty; and brothers, Kenny Schlimmer and Irv Schlimmer.
