A memorial service will be Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 12 pm at The Runge Mortuary. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Riverbend Food Bank.

Jean was born in St. Louis, MO on February 7, 1942. She was the daughter of Gilbert Walter and Mary Virginia (Misegades) Franklin. Jean graduated from Webster Groves High School near St. Louis. She graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from the University of Iowa.
She married Larry Beeth on June 17, 1984 in Bettendorf. She was a dedicated teacher in the Central Community School District where she worked in the Special Education area. She retired in 2004 after 29 years of loyal service. She was an avid reader and loved reading mystery novels and watching mysteries on tv. Her day always started with a crossword puzzle. She loved animals and had dogs and later, cats. Jean also had a large frog figurine collection.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Larry, her son, Dwain (Cathy) May, Davenport, daughter, Sue (Tom) Perry, Land O’ Lakes, FL, grandchildren: Kevin Dunaway and Pamela (Richard) Paulin, all of Land O’ Lakes, FL, four great grandsons: Richie, Hunter, Cooper and Hudson, brother, Gilbert (Teresa) Franklin, TX, sister, Casey Posten, Bettendorf and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her many cherished pets.
