

Blanche Dorothy VanArnam, 93, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Home in Davenport. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Blanche was born April 6, 1922 in Grey Cliff, MT; the daughter of James and Mildred (Khyn) Adams. She married LeVerne “Bud” VanArnam, Jr. on November 8, 1941 in Kahoka, MO; he preceded her in death on May 26, 2006. She was a free-spirit who enjoyed going dancing with her husband, playing cards, cooking, fishing, going to the casinos and gardening. She also had a fondness for all animals. She retired after 29 years of service, in 1982 from Cobham Life Support, formerly Litton Industries and Bendix Aviation. Those left to honor her memory include her grandsons: Brian (Kristine) Menke, Minneapolis, MN, Matthew Menke, Davenport and Mark Menke, Wilton, IA; great grandchildren: Tommy and Luke; sister: Sylvia Schryver, Long Grove, IA and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Blanche was preceded in death by a daughter, Garnett Menke on February 13, 1992; great grandson, Garrett Menke; sisters, Victoria Fisher and Mildred Hansen and brothers: George, Walter and Harry.
