Bob Lee Jones

Bob L. Jones, 93, of Davenport passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday May 15, 2016 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association. Bob was born May 8, 1924 in Mystic, IA to Jerry O. and May Belle (Steffy) Jones. Bob was a graduate of Davenport High School in 1946. Bob honorably served his country during WWII in the US Navy on the USS Massachusetts in the Pacific. Bob married Rachel Allen on October 5, 1959 in Rock Island, IL. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2014. Bob worked at Riverside International as a Diesel Mechanic, retiring in 1989.

Bob enjoyed working on cars first and for most. Often he could be found in his garage. Later in life Bob and Rachel took ball room dancing lessons. He also enjoyed playing golf and building model airplanes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Laurie (Trace) Kinnard, Nevada, TX, and Jerry (Amy) Jones, Davenport; six grandchildren: Krysta, Ashley, Lindsay, Taylor, Gage and Kailynn; seven great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a one brother Bill.
