AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Bonnie Kay Averill

17 octobre 1959 – 28 mars 2026
Avis de décès de Bonnie Kay Averill
AUX SOINS DE

Weerts Funeral Home

Bonnie K Averill, 66, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, passed away on March 28, 2026. Bonnie was a kind-hearted woman whose life was marked by devotion to family and steadfast strength. In her honor, a memorial service will be held at Wellman Mennonite Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 with a meal to follow.

In North Carolina on October 17, 1959, Bonnie was born to parents Norma (Bennett) and Raymond McCann. She went on to work at the Women’s Hospital in Greensboro, NC, as a nurse's aide. In that role, she helped deliver many babies into the world and later had the special honor of helping with the delivery of her grandchildren, DeAnna and Breanna.

On April 24, 1992, Bonnie married Dale Averill. Together, they had two children and many beloved years in each other's company. Bonnie loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids, and the simple moments meant the most—watching movies together, playing cards, and reading books.

In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and, when she was younger, quilting with her aunt. She also cherished time at the beach, whether it was when she lived in North Carolina, California, or Florida. Bonnie’s knack for baking led her to open a side business baking cakes and she always made sure to go all out on her family’s birthday cakes. Bonnie loved listening to Elvis Presley and even mentioned him in the final hours of her life.

Known for being feisty and fiery, Bonnie also had a quiet steadiness in the way she cared for others; she put everyone before herself. Later, when she faced the diagnosis of end stage COPD and chronic heart failure, she fought it with all her might.

Survivors include her daughter, Chantell Becker; son-in-law, Mike Becker, grandchildren, DeAnna (Tyler) Hazelett, Breanna (Zach) Hill, Josephine Becker; great-grandchildren, Grayson Hill, Easton Hill, McKenzie Hazelett, Leo Hazelett, Wrenleigh Hazelett; and sister, Becky Eastwood.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents, Norma (Bennette) and Raymond McCann; beloved son, Ricky Tilley Jr., and her half-brothers, Ronald McCann and Thomas McCann.
