

Carolyn A. Ehlers, 79, of Davenport, IA passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2018 at Genesis East Hospital. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 with a Memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, East Moline with a luncheon to follow. Inurnment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Carolyn was born October 21, 1938 in Jacksonville, IL to Eli and Opal (Heriford) Hennessey. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1956. Carolyn was united in marriage to Mark (Eugene) Ehlers on June 17, 1985 in East Moline. Carolyn worked for Deere & Co. for 20 years as an executive assistant. She retired in 1998. Carolyn was Miss Moline in 1957. She was President of the Mothers of Twins Club, President of the East Moline Schools PTA, leader of 4H Clubs, member of Rock Island Extension Service Advisory Counsel, served on the Board of Deacons at First Presbyterian Church, and was Treasurer of Deere Retirees. Even as an active member of her community, she put her family first and was a devoted, loving mother and wife. She was an outstanding baker, and a fantastic seamstress and loved collecting antiques. Survivors include her husband, Mark “Eugene”, Davenport; children: Tony Hart, San Francisco, CA; Todd (Tammy) Hart, Becker, MN; Candy (Eric) Hart-Echols, Davenport; step-son, Mark (Lori) Ehlers, Las Vegas, NV; son-in-law, Greg Holman, La Crosse, WI; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers: Charles “Vic” (Diane) Hennessey, Tom (Betty) Hennessey. She was preceded in death by daughters: Cindy Lou Holman, Christa Irene Hart; 2 sisters; 1 brother
