

Carolyn B. Wessel, 77, of Moline, Illinois passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center after a long battle with Parkinsons. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 777-25th Avenue, East Moline. There will be no visitation. Carolyn was born July 18, 1935 in Wilton, Iowa to Joe M. and Freida S. (Martens) Bowman. She was united in marriage to Richard Wessel on November 22, 1962 in Wilton.
Carolyn was a wonderful mom and grandma who adored her granddaughters and new baby grandson. She was a homemaker and had formerly been a school secretary, sales associate at a fabric/craft store, seasonal gift wrapper at Von Maur, and a volunteer librarian and Brownie/Girl Scout leader. She loved cooking for her family, sewing, and shopping with her daughters and granddaughters. She also enjoyed sewing and creating flags for her daughter’s UT Marching Band and traveling with best friends Joe and Monyeen Hora.
Survivors include her daughter and sons-in-law Amy and Ron Stone of Coal Valley and Jenni and Jahn Fields of Moline; grandchildren Taylor and Mackenzie Stone and Avery Fields; brother and sister-in-law Ken and Sandy Bowman of Davenport and sisters-in-law Nancy Wessel of Marengo and Shirley Wessel of Muscatine; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
