Charles J. Butler, Jr.

There will be no services at this time for Charles J. Butler, Jr., 81, of DeWitt, IA. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Mr. Butler passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Charles James Butler was born on June 7, 1932 in Joliette, ND, the son of Charles and Edith (Carpenter) Butler. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and served his country until his retirement in 1970. On June 8, 1979, he married Thelma M. Neave in Rock Island, IL. Charles was a member of the National Rifle Association, Vietnam Vets, the Disabled American Vets #2, VFW #8883, Masonic Lodge #37, and AMVETS. He is survived by his Wife: Thelma Butler of DeWitt; three Daughters: Sherry (Kurt) Buterbaugh of KY; Carol Butler of KY, Martha Cousins of DeWitt; seven Sons: Chris Butler of CO, Roger Butler, and Markus Butler, all of KY; Brian (Debbie) Lake of DeWitt, Mike (Teri) Lake of Walcott, IA, Steven (Chris) Lake of DeWitt, Mark Lake of Cedar Rapids, IA; 12 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
