

Charles “Charlie” H. Rodden, 66, of Bettendorf, passed away unexpectedly at Mercy One East Campus on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Per his wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Marks Lutheran Church, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club. Charlie was born on January 3, 1959, in Paulding, Ohio, to James and Mary (Mathis) Rodden. He attended Davenport Central High School and later earned his associate’s degree from Brown Mackie College in 2015. Charlie was united in marriage to Rosa Sachleben on July 9, 1977, in Davenport.
He dedicated over 35 years of service to the Quad-City Times, where he held many positions throughout his career.
Charlie enjoyed assembling WWII model tanks and airplanes. He was an avid WWE wrestling fan and participated in league bowling for many years. From his younger days, his favorite band was The Beatles—a love that stayed with him throughout his life.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Rosa; children, Crystal (Michael) Lane of Davenport and Shaun Rodden of Rock Island; grandchildren, Lance, Brett, Dylan, Jason, and Izaac; great-grandchildren, Addison, Trinity, and Easton; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
